Mastering Macro Tracking
What is Macro Tracking?
Macro tracking is the process of counting the macronutrients—proteins, carbohydrates, and fats—that you consume daily. Unlike traditional calorie counting, which only focuses on energy balance, tracking macros ensures that the calories you eat are composed of the right nutrients to support your specific goals, whether that's muscle hypertrophy, fat loss, or metabolic health.
How it Works
Every food item is broken down into its core components:
- Protein (4 kcal/g): Essential for muscle repair, growth, and preserving lean mass during fat loss.
- Carbohydrates (4 kcal/g): The primary energy source for your brain and high-intensity workouts.
- Fats (9 kcal/g): Crucial for hormone regulation, joint health, and nutrient absorption.
The Katori Approach
Indian cuisine is notoriously complex to track because of hidden oils, varying portion sizes (katoris), and mixed dishes. Katori simplifies this by allowing you to log food visually and instantly providing a hyper-accurate macronutrient breakdown based on regional Indian recipes. You don't need a food scale for everything; Katori estimates the macros based on standard serving sizes and visual cues.
